What is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a counselling approach that uses the powers of play and the therapeutic relationship to support children and families in addressing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, while promoting overall well-being.
Play Therapy gives children the opportunity to understand themselves, express their emotions, and make sense of confusing feelings or painful experiences in the way they know best—through play. Unlike adults who rely on words to ‘talk things out,’ children ‘play things out’ to process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
In a safe and supportive therapeutic environment, play facilitates communication, fosters emotional well-being, enhances social relationships, and strengthens personal abilities. Play Therapy harnesses the power of play to prevent and resolve the social, emotional, and behavioural challenges that children face.

What can I expect?
At Mkids Therapy Hub, we are dedicated to providing a compassionate, confidential, and personalized Play Therapy experience that caters to the unique needs of each child.
During the initial consultation, the Play Therapist conducts an intake interview with the parent or caregivers to gather essential background information about the child. A separate session with the child may be arranged to build rapport and understand them before starting the therapy. Clinical sessions are typically held weekly, with the total number of sessions ranging from 8 to 20, depending on the child’s individual needs.
Each session consists of 50 minutes of direct contact time, followed by 10 minutes of documentation. The initial consultation will last 1.5 hours, including 50 minutes of direct contact and 40 minutes dedicated to reviewing relevant reports provided by the client. Parents are highly encouraged to attend a Parent Consultation session after every 4-5 sessions their child completes.
